    The summer of 2020 was going to be a big one for students in my age group. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors work hard to land an internship in order to bolster their resume. However, many of those internships were either revoked or postponed until further notice, because of the looming pandemic. Many companies either can’t or are not willing to make their interns work online. The world does not slow down, and we are not going to get this time back, so there is always something that can be done.

    This article brings to light the importance of a strong LinkedIn profile. I believe that the most important function of a LinkedIn profile for students wanting to get an internship, is that it shows which students are active in positioning themselves in the best possible position. Students with strong LinkedIn profiles show that they are taking initiative and seizing control of their own life. They are displaying a desire and willingness to get connected with people of position.

    In addition, internships and jobs are a lot about connections and who you know. LinkedIn is one way to make connections, but these are connections that everyone can make. If you are fortunate enough to have a family member or loved one working in the same field that you want to, they can be a great asset. In this time of self-isolation, you need every advantage you can get. In my case, my uncle owns an insurance agency. I called him the other day, asking if I could come to work for him during the summer, not really knowing what to expect. Upon talking to him, he wants me to take a couple free classes to learn about the business, and that once I did, I could come to work. My connection with my uncle allowed me to get an internship, I otherwise probably would not have been able too.

    I found this article by Fast Company to be extremely intriguing while also very relevant. During our past BLAW class, we spent the entire time addressing our current employment conditions and how to prepare ourselves for the future. It was very eye opening and got me thinking about how I can get ahead of others. We have plenty of things at our disposal that we can utilize in order to better improve our resumes (or to even make one).
    The article first addresses the importance of using technology to our advantage. The author, Peter Yang, stresses the importance of utilizing social media in correlation to our resumes. LinkedIn is an incredibly important part of networking that can help you edge out the competition. Yang also proposes a statistic that states that there is a large percentage of resumes that receive calls if their resume includes a link to a well-developed LinkedIn. During our recent class, Professor Shannon stressed the importance of including hyperlinks into our resumes. He shared that it makes things much easier for employers and can help improve your chances of being contacted by said employer.
    The other tips that Yang provides his readers are tips that make your resume more attractive to employers. The second tip Yang provides is to adjust your cover letter depending on different job descriptions. Employers are more likely to value a resume that has a cover letter that is altered specific to the position the applicant is looking for. The third tip focuses on gaps between different streaks of employment. Employers don’t like the gaps that appear between work, but if there is valid reasoning for the stints of unemployment, it doesn’t look as bad. Yang’s final tip is to have a resume that spans two pages, rather than just one. Employers opt to spend more time looking at resumes that have more length, than ones that are shorter. And with spending more time looking at the resume, employers tend to prefer the longer resumes over the shorter ones.
    Even though we are stuck in quarantine at the moment, work is still out there. We just have to apply ourselves and make the effort to put our name and face out there. Although I am just a freshmen, I understand the importance of expanding my network now, rather than later. I have already tweaked my LinkedIn by including my past work experiences, including my skill set, and networking with friends and family.

    As someone who has recently been active in the duties of searching for and applying to internships day and night, this article contains extremely valuable information that I heard during my application process and is even more useful in today’s climate. With a deadly, extremely contagious virus sweeping our nation, putting us in a lockdown that keeps getting extended, over 17 million Americans have lost their jobs are now placed in extremely unpleasant financial situations. This being the case, instead of aimlessly sending a résumé in hundred of job postings, it is definitely smarter for people to retool themselves and prepare before diving in headfirst. With the capabilities of modern technology, some of which we carry on us daily, we can rethink our professional presence and make ourselves more appealing to companies all over once this pandemic begins to ease.
    The first point in the article ties to digital networking along with building a solid presence on one’s LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the largest professional platform and allows not only for job searching and applying but also for connecting with colleagues, classmates, managers, etc., possible in a more executive way as compared to services like Facebook or Instagram. Building a robust profile creates a one-stop-shop for employers and hiring managers, allowing them to know who you are, your experience, education, and even certifications, awards, and commendations. This ties in with the last class we had in which we discussed how we must prepare for a 21st century work environment in terms of practice and also in competition. The age of simple, paper resumes with bland information is gone and instead we must focus more heavily on showcasing our accolades digitally and building a strong network of people in all fields, as you never know when someone could come in handy and assist in a jo search.
    One of the biggest things I learned from my father regarding job applications is the importance of having a dynamic cover letter than could be altered to fit the role one is applying for. Being in the business school, there is a vast array of “business internships” but when looked at, granted many are similar, but they all place emphasis in a unique part of the job. One position may focus heavily on leadership and management while another is based more on the backend information technology side of the operation. Due to this, a tailored cover letter allows one to directly tell the employ why they are fit for that role and what they bring to the table in terms of innovation and efficiency for the company. Tying all of these strategies together combined with dedication to the process and patience, the chances of acquiring a job after quarantine ends jumps up significantly.

    I found this article extremely interesting because it was exactly what professor Shannon spoke about during one of our classes. The four tips that the article talks about; Networking in digital spaces, tailoring your cover letters too fit each job description, talking about the work gaps in your resume and just redesign your whole resume. These are all the same tips that we spoke about during our class period and we really spent time to emphasizes the importance of these tips. Starting with networking in digital spaces, you must realize that the times are changing and if you do not change with the times then you are going to get left behind. Especially with how fast technology is improving, everything is become more and more digital nobody likes to waste paper or print anything anymore when you can just do everything digitally and keep it more organized. So, it is important that you are able to network on all digital platforms like LinkedIn because in reality it is not about the grades that you make it is about the hands that you shake so who you know. Editing you cover letter so that it fits each description is a smart way of saying in resume write all the key words that are used in your job description so that you are more appealing to employers that is really all there is to it. When I put it like that it is a lot easier to understand. I do not really know a lot about work gaps especially that according to the research they did people with work gaps have a 45% less chance of getting a job then that shows you that you need to be able to explain why you have a work gap do not just over look it like it is not a big deal because it is a big deal. Lastly when it comes to redesigning your resume, it is true that we are always told that your resume has to be o one page, make sure you can fit everything on one page but if it is true that employers like it more when you resume is two pages and they are more likely to read it then why are we not making our resumes two pages? It is a tough thing to think about, but this is proof that the times are really changing, and you better make sure that you are changing with it.

    Reading the article, it was only natural that the first tip listed is to network in digital spaces. This speaks to the direction in which work, and society is heading and if you do not keep with the times, you will be left behind. However, one thing has troubled me regarding this, it is considering those people whose circumstances do not permit them to keep up. This is especially concerning with students. When I was younger not much of the curriculum was based online, it was only until I got to high school where it moved online. Fortunately, I had the luxury of being issued a laptop for some of those years. But for students who were not offered that, they suffered a much more challenging learning experience. Now for applying for jobs, if under certain circumstances an applier is not able to build an online network, that severely limits the amount of jobs they can contact. The article cites that those with a LinkedIn have a 71% higher chance of receiving a call back. That is insane statistic. Just by having a valid online resume, you avoiding being that minority of 29%. The job market amidst this current pandemic is truly competitive. Many companies struggle to afford so many employees. Across different companies, many employees had to be let go to prevent losing so much money. With the job market, it is imperative to keep your resume tight and appealing to jobs.
    In the study of psychology, a basis of human nature is to be liked by others and I feel that has been present in our academic and professional careers. Soon enough, I will have to begin applying for a job fitting for my career. Presently, it does seem like I am always appealing to someone. Whether it is in a college application letter or in a job application, we are actively working to make ourselves more valuable than our peers. The article, however, does not describe what qualities you should have. Rather, it suggests how you can apply the qualities that you already have in order to land a job. It has the overarching theme of being able to adapt to the situation.

    Other than the health crisis that COVID-19 has created around the world it has also had a deep impact on business and the economy. Most people are out of work or not able to work the same number of hours as they used to. People are not being paid and it is becoming a problem, and new ways need to be discovered in order to get money into these people’s pockets. This article takes a look at this issue and gives some advice as to what can be done in this time and how we can still look for work and find that needed money. LinkedIn, one of the biggest job platforms and the most useful for people in terms of finding a job and having a much greater chance at landing that job. Being on these platforms leads to opportunities that we may not initially think of and is a good way to find small jobs or even one that is able to be done, even in times such as these. An adequate profile on these sites takes some time but during a pandemic we tend to have much more free time than before. We need to be proactive and present ourselves with the best situation possible at the end of this thing. Everyone needs to make the best out of a bad situation, being stuck in our houses and having too much free time can lead to great things if we use this time in the right way and spend it investing in ourselves. Take a look at your resume, your LinkedIn profile, and create the best opportunities for yourself to succeed. Taking an active role takes work, but it is something that we can benefit from and is much better than sitting on the couch and binge watching entire Netflix series.

    As we approach Summer 2020, most of us college students all expected this to be a very important summer that would consist of many internships, job opportunities, but after we have been hit with this recent pandemic, that window is slowly but surely closing. This was a very crucial topic we discussed thoroughly in our most recent lecture because this has affected most if not all of us and the plans we had made.
    While it is difficult to acquire a job or internship opportunity during these recent series of events, this article provides us with alternative tweaks and ideas we can utilize on our resume, or more importantly, LinkedIN profile to make it more appealing than before when these opportunities arise. I agree with the article that it would in your best interests to use this leisure time to strategize on how to best sell yourself and the unique characteristics you offer. Networking online is very essential because most work is shifting to being digital amid this pandemic. If you are determined to find a job or internship it would be in your best interests to stay active because employers are searching the web for employees more than ever before. Along with the opportunities comes a lot of competition on these workspaces. These new job platforms have given the users the ability to publicly qualify themselves with all degrees and promotions which creates a lot more difficulty in your job search. Updating and tweaking your LinkedIN page with all you have to offer could be the leverage you have to land these job opportunities. Uniformity is very important when an employer analyzes the professionality of your LinkedIN page, and considering what Professor Shannon provided, hyperlinks could be a great way to make this profile analyzation simple and more beneficial to the employer and your chances as well. LinkedIN profiles can also be leverage when creating a resume because it gives a whole different set of qualifications to present to a company that another person may not include in their resume and that may be the dealbreaker. Companies like to see connections made and these profiles give you a chance to show that you are invested in yourself by making a dynamic page that stands out in their eyes.

    I was looking forward to having a job/internship during the summer, but due to this pandemic many companies are not seeking inters or employment for their company. Many companies have shut downed or postponed any type of summer internship programs to avoid the spread of the corona virus. I was very intrigued reading this article Fast Company. I believed my summer was going to be me staying a home all day doing nothing productive, but this article taught me 4 useful ways to boost my chances getting a job during this pandemic.
    This up coming summer was going to be a very important summer for many college students, but due to the corona virus pandemic many internships are being cancelled. This article explains how technology is great source of improving your connections and network. LinkedIn is a very professional platform that allows you to connect people and companies. Growing your LinkedIn profile will let other companies know your goals, hobbies, and experiences. This article strongly supports that LinkedIn is great source to use to find jobs and internships.
    This article also mentioned great tips on how to improve your resume. Peter Yang addressed tips like having a two-page resume, adjusting your cover letter, to have not gaps between past work experiences, and to make your resume very attractive. Currently there is a lot of competition in the job market, so having a good resume is very important. I feel these tips are very beneficial and useful for time like this.
    Even though there is a less amounts of job opportunities available, they are still ways to improve your connections, network, and chances of getting a job. With use of technology and effort, the chances of finding a job during or after this pandemic are going to be high.

    Being in a time of economic uncertainty, it is a scary time to be entering the workforce. In majority of cases, businesses and corporations have been shackled down to payouts, lay-offs, and furloyghs for both employees and prospective employees. It is certainly an anxious period of time to be pursuing a career, something Fast Company outlines in their article. However, they highlight great ways to being able to keep afloat staying active in one’s pursuit of landing a job or internship in the near future.
    The article lists some useful ways in improving your look and worth, pointing towards adding onto one’s resume, as well as one’s LinkedIn. Updating these virtual portfolios is a great way of displaying and showcasing strengths and skillsets attributed to your career field. At this point, it is becoming increasingly competitive to try and secure positions, and by covering in gaps and filling in recent activity in your life can make a difference in being able to strive towards a position you want. Staying persistent in contacting officials and hiring managers is another great stride in the right direction. This helps in staying proactive even under dim circumstances with the situation surrounding many companies.
    For me, it is unfortunate that certain opportunities will not be available for the upcoming quarter and internships are being cancelled, as I am am approaching graduation. However, with these tips, I feel much more at ease with what I feel can be done to improve my chances of being hired. This quarantine has made me realize more ad more of the importance of staying technologically sound and using the resources that it provides in staying active in the job/internship market.

    I found this article to be rather intriguing. The global crisis that we’re currently facing has thrown many of us off-course. One of the biggest demographics to be affected are those currently enrolled in universities — any plans that they mad have made for the near future need to be reevaluated. Thankfully, through the instruction of educated individuals and articles such as this, the transition has been made easier.

    I generally agree with the points made in this article — I think some of the most important things to do will be updating and tailoring your resume, along with addressing the existence of the virus and it’s effect on your work and school life. What I think holds upmost importance though, is working on your technical literacy and improving your online skillset.

    This is something that we’ve heavily covered in class, but I’d like to elaborate further here. It’s actually surprising, really, how many people that I know who I wouldn’t consider to be “technologically literate”. Maybe it’s because I’ve been “raised on the internet”, but it’s actually perplexing when people in my age group tell me that they aren’t versed in simple programs such as Word or Excel. Even more so, when they are unable to efficiently navigate and utilize basic operating systems such as Windows. This may be acceptable for many adults, but as college aged students, we have no excuses for us to be having issues with basic technology in this day and age.

    The scariest part is, the divide between these groups — those who are technologically literate, and those who aren’t — is quite large. It’s astounding that so many people are unaware of how easy it is to obtain information or assistance from a single google search. To add on to that, there is no time where these skills are more essential. Technology is not perfect, and is prone to bugs and other issues — and many will not be able to solve or overcome these hurdles if they lack an understanding of said technology.

    Fast Company continues to provide tips or ideas for us during this struggling time. The coronavirus pandemic has affected every part of our lives, especially the work life of people. People are experiencing layoffs, salary cuts, and places are even shutting down completely. While this pandemic has but many plans on halt, those in need of a job still need one. They still have to search for and land a job. This article provides four ways to boost our chances of landing a new job during the pandemic.

    While face to face interaction has been stopped due to the coronavirus, you can still interact and work online. The first tip is “network in digital spaces”. The coronavirus has not stopped our ability to interact online. You can still network through social media platforms like LinkedIn. Taking advantage of LinkedIn and having a good profile will go along way. ” Using a sample size of 24,570 fictitious job applications, we found that résumés that included a link to a comprehensive LinkedIn profile received far more interview callbacks than résumés that included only a bare bones LinkedIn profile or no profile at all—a 71% higher chance, in fact.” A hiring job will look at your profile and that can be a major way to get your foot in the door. The next tip is having a good cover letter. Having a cover letter with your application will increase that likely hood of landing an interview. But just having a cover letter is not enough, it should be good and properly done. It should be “carefully tailored to individual job descriptions”. The next tip is to “address work gaps in your resume”. This is where transparency and context comes into play. It is impossible that a prolonged period of unemployment on your resume goes unnoticed. It will be noticed and it may worry whomever is looking to hire you. However, you should state the reason for this period, provide context to this. You cannot act like this period did not happen. You should also be honest and make sure it matters. This will help who is looking at your resume understand. The last tip is to “retool your resume.” You should always update resume to reflect your current situation and accomplishments. You should also retool into to be adapted to how the current world is. You should take advantage of the new technological advances with your resume. You should provide links if possible. Your resume should reflect that your are technologically literate.

    In conclusion, the job search will always and must go on. Using the tips that Peter Yang provides definitely increase your chances of landing a job.

    Early in 2020, the Coronavirus became one of the most deadly and feared diseases in human history, infecting millions of people and killing hundreds of thousands more altering the way we go about life in the intern. With there being no cure present in the immediate future, it led many to fear the devastating impacts of the disease and take severely juristic measures that have never been taken before. Undecided on how to best combat the diseases, the governments of many states, as well as the federal government enlisted stay at home orders to halt the diseases spread. By doing this, however, it has led many to lose their jobs as their work simply couldn’t be done at home, or they weren’t essential enough to their companies to keep on the payroll during the pandemic. With people being laid off many fear that they will struggle to find a new job after the pandemic, however, in a recent Fast Company article by Peter Yang titled four ways to boost your chances of landing a new job during the pandemic, the author discusses how one may be able to land a job once this is all said and done. The first and most important tip the author gives to boast chances at landing a job is to network in digital spaces as simply put “résumés that included a link to a comprehensive LinkedIn profile received far more interview callbacks than résumés that included only a bare-bones LinkedIn profile or no profile at all—a 71% higher chance, in fact”. Therefore, merely taking the hour and a half, it takes to create a LinkedIn profile can yield high dividends for some looking for a job in the long run as it is a great way to market yourself and your skills.
    Most importantly, however, LinkedIn shows your ability to connect with other professionals in your field, which is a highly desired skill as it shows that you’re not only communicable with other people but are also tech-friendly enough to understand the inner workings of a social tech platform. Something that will be quite important in the post coronavirus world, as the market for tech-friendly people will assuredly advance. Another one of the crucial tips the author gives is the importance of having a uniquely tailored cover letter for each job that you may be applying to because a unique cover letter shows that you put the time and effort into the job your applying to, taking the application process seriously. Along with this is the fact that “applications with cover letters carefully tailored to individual job descriptions yielded over 50% more interviews than job applications submitted without a letter”. Thusly showing the extra hour, it may take to do the research and writing of the cover letter is essential as it dramatically increases your chances to get an interview. Giving you an opportunity as well to market yourself before the interview making you already seem better than other options before you even walk through the door for the most critical part of the job application process. The other two tips that the author mentions is to retool your Resume as well as addressing job gaps, and while these are important if the other two steps are done flawlessly enough doing these, in my opinion, can simply be an afterthought.

    This article presents something all of us as students should be seriously thinking about and considering, which is not just finding a job after school, but finding a job after school during this current economic climate. Jobs are being lost left and right, and by the time we are out of school ready to work, there’s really no saying where we will be at as a country. Finding jobs is going to be even harder than it is now, and many will have to adapt to what companies are looking for in new workers. This article gives four interesting points to consider when looking for a job post-pandemic. Firstly, adapting to networking on the digital space is very obviously going to give anyone an edge when looking for a job, especially now that the utility of the digital space has been highlighted to the extreme here. The ability to learn new techniques and to use the digital space to its capacity will put you leagues above the next candidate. The addition of a more involved cover letter seems like something most people might miss and think is unimportant. A cover letter gives an interviewer a chance to quickly learn something about you. It can help you stand out and shows that there was more thought put into the resume. It can mean a lot when an interviewer can learn something about you just by looking at the front of your resume. The article also mentions addressing any work gaps between jobs in your resume. Simply addressing them shows you have nothing to hide, and by leaving out a reason why you weren’t working it gives them the chance to put you on the spot during an interview. It’s better to address things like that outright instead of after the fact. The last tip, lengthening your resume by just one page, goes hand in hand with all of these tips. By taking more time, being thorough and thoughtful about explaining past work experiences and skills, it shows more care is given into the resume itself. The better your resume is put together, the easier it is for an interviewer to not only learn about you, but to judge the type of worker you are.

    This article was very interesting and helpful not only for me but for others looking for a job or internship. My goal for this summer was to get an internship to better my resume for my senior year of college. Many internships I applied for were either canceled or postponed due to the Coronavirus. The companies I applied for thought it was a better idea to cancel them instead of working online because they felt like the interns would not learn anything online. Since I could not find an internship, I decided to volunteer at my local hospital, helping any way I can. My goal for this is to help boost my resume, and when they choose to do an internship program, I would have a better chance of getting it because I have the experience and know my work ethic.

    I realized that getting a job or an internship is all about connections, for example using LinkedIn. This gives students a way to show employers who they are and what they want to do in the future. LinkedIn can help someone with their dream job, or when it is time to start to apply to a job, you already have a connection with the company. If you have a more substantial LinkedIn page, you will be more likely to stand out and have a better chance of landing the job.

    Another Tip Yang gave us is that it is all about your resume and cover letter. Having a robust and unique cover letter personalized to fit that company’s needs are something everyone should do.Cover letters have a significant impact for when a company is looking for placement. This not only helps you, but most employers bypass individuals who apply without a cover letter. One big thing I learned from this article is to keep your resume short and simple. Making it one page but having all the important and up to date information on it. Overall, this article does not explain what qualities or motivations you should have or need but instead describes the steps you can do to land a job after this pandemic.

    This article displays an excellent insight into what every professional should be actively participating in during this pandemic regardless if they still have their job, were furloughed or were terminated. It is a necessity more now than ever due to the lack of job security that the pandemic has caused that professionals must do everything in their power to stand out and prove their worth in the workplace. Techniques that the article highlighted include having a strong LinkedIn profile, tailoring unique cover letters to each job description, providing an explanation for any work gaps in your resume and expanding your resume if it will benefit you.
    During this pandemic my parents have been working from home. They both work in the corporate world and I have made it a point when I get home to observe them so that I can prepare myself for when I enter the corporate world and I have noticed how difficult it is right now to keep a job due to the pandemic. Observing, I have noticed what kept certain employees and why certain employees were let go and it scares me because employees are easily replaceable. However, seeing this has made me more motivated to work harder to make myself stand out and to remember the future the secret to getting a job and keeping it is to make yourself an irreplaceable asset to your company. My mom is a corporate recruiter and reading this article really hit home on everything that she reinforces in me in regards to how I should be preparing for my future career. With the ongoing pandemic she regularly gives me tips as mentioned in the article about the extra steps I should be taking in making connections, standing out and continuing to search for internships. Like Yang she encourages me to continue my presence on LinkedIn and keep networking. Yang advises that a LinkedIn profile should have a summary of over a hundred words, have highly detailed descriptions of past work experiences and have over 300 connections. I think that professionals should look at their LinkedIn profile as a pre-interview because corporate recruiters will skim their profile in a few seconds and if they like what they see then they will continue looking into the applicant but if they do not like what they see then that the applicant will not even get a chance to interview. Recruiters look to LinkedIn to also see if the information on one’s profile matches their resume. In other words, recruiters want to see how much effort one is putting into presenting themselves professionally because they feel this is a reflection of how much effort they will put into their job. I also think a great point Yang makes is that a professional should create an overall cover letter and save it. However, when applying for different jobs they should tailor it for that job. For example, someone should highlight in their cover letter certain skills, experiences or certifications that they have when applying for certain jobs that require or want those specific skills. Professionals applying to jobs right now need to have specific cover letters for different jobs because the job market is more cutthroat than ever and it is vital to stand out among competition. During this pandemic is it crucial that every professional continues to update their LinkedIn and grow their network with other corporate recruiters or people who work at the companies one wants to work at because one never knows when an internship or job opportunity will arise. Yang also points out tips that can easily be overlooked by some such as providing an explanation if there is a gap in your resume. Recruiters will wonder to themselves why there is a gap. Providing a reasonable explanation such as taking care of a sick family member or that you started a family will provide some reassurance. Yang also explains that what used to be known as the golden rule of resumes which is that a resume should be no longer than one page long is now outdated. Your resume should be in depth where it provides a clear and concise description of your past job titles. I do notice that my mom flips and read the pages of an applicant’s resume and spends more time reading that resume than someone who provided a one page resume. Lastly, Yang reminds us to provide the link to your LinkedIn on your resume for easy access for recruiters. I think a lot of people forget to do this and they might have not missed out on an opportunity if they included this.
    Altogether, regardless of this pandemic I think it is important for all of us to keep these tips in mind everyday regardless at what professional stage in our lives we are in. Each year the job market is only going to get tougher and tougher with better competition. It is important that you are proactive in making yourself stand out so you can gain the best opportunities as possible.

    Unfortunately, the Coronavirus has affected everybody, specially college students who were seeking internships during this summer period. College students specially those who are going towards their senior year, are the ones who are really in need for internships since this is would be their last summer before they graduate. It was very important for the upcoming college seniors to get a full-time internship as something to look good in their resumes before they graduate and start to apply for a full-time job upon graduation. After the Coronavirus Pandemic, many internships programs have been canceled. Students are getting stressed out because of the opportunities they may have lost.
    As a college student, I was seeking a full-time internship as it is my last summer before I graduate in May 2021. I applied to so many positions, but after the Pandemic, I’ve been receiving emails that the internship programs have been canceled and they are not accepting any interns. At the beginning, I felt that I’m the only one who keeps receiving rejection emails until I read this article. After reading the article, I learned that I’m not alone in this situation, however, there are many students that are suffering from the same thing. The article addressed very important key points for students who want to accomplish something useful during this summer period. Since everything converted to be online rather than in person, social media and technology have become the most important thing to any student during this uncertain time. One of those important social media apps is LinkedIn platform. I knew from my career planning class that LinkedIn is very important when it comes to building connections, also, when it comes to looking for an internship or a full-time job. I was never actively present on LinkedIn because I’ve never understood how it is useful until last week. Last week, I was on LinkedIn randomly going through my wall until I saw a volunteering opportunity for a specific organization.
    I welcomed the chance to do something productive during this summer. As Andrew says in the CNN Business article, “just being productive this summer will fuel your sense of purpose and look good on your resume.” instead of an internship, one could be productive by so many other things that can still look good in resumes. The online platform LinkedIn was the tool for to find this opportunity. As what Yang mentioned in the article, “Joining and staying active on LinkedIn and even Facebook can lead to unforeseen job opportunities you’d never find in a job listing.” That is exactly what I experienced from being active on LinkedIn, is that I found an opportunity that could be beneficial for me in the future when I add it to my resume.
